Religious Education

Every Student Achieves Success in an Authentic Catholic Context.

St Brigid’s community, with the support of the Diocese of Sale’s curriculum, “To Live in Christ Jesus”, supports students to discover God’s presence in their daily lives.

Curriculum Overview:

Each child is instructed in

  • Christian Prayer
  • Liturgy (School Masses)
  • Encountering Scripture
  • Church Tradition
  • Catholic Social Teaching
  • Triune God (the person of Jesus Christ)
Inside church

Parents are invited to be involved in our liturgical celebrations and school masses. A school based Mass is celebrated in our school chapel three times per term. Parents and parishioners are always welcome to attend.

As part of our Catholic Social Teaching, students are encouraged to recognise their responsibility when caring for others by helping to create a more just society through the support of organisations and initiatives such as:

  • Project Compassion/ Caritas
  • Catholic Mission
  • Vincent De Paul,
  • Mini Vinnies Program
  • Local Berwick Volunteers

Sacramental Program

A parish based and school supported sacramental program is facilitated by St. Michael’s Parish Berwick and our school community.

All students are taught the educational component of each sacrament with an emphasis on how participating in the Sacrament helps us all to encounter God’s love more fully.

  • Catholic children in Year 3 encounter God’s mercy and healing through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
  • Year 4 students will continue their faith journey through the Sacrament of Eucharist.
  • Year 6 students participate in the Sacrament of Confirmation to become full members of the Church.
